High River Dental Centre

Health & safety

Your safety is our highest priority.

Every step of our infection-control protocol meets, and often exceeds, the standards set by the Alberta Dental Association & College.

Sterilisation isn't a checklist for us, it's the foundation of what we do. We follow the strict guidelines of the Alberta Dental Association & College and review our protocols regularly to make sure we stay current with best practice.

Our in-house sterilization area
  • Pressurised steam autoclave

Every instrument and handpiece is sterilised daily in a high-pressure steam autoclave, the standard of care. Our computerised cycle alerts us if anything is incomplete, and an external biological indicator test verifies sterility.

  • Surface decontamination

Countertops, chairs, lights, stools and control buttons are wiped down with hospital-grade chemical solutions before and after every patient.

  • Single-use items

Saliva ejectors, suction tips, drinking cups, bibs, sterilisation bags, mixing pads, anesthetic carpules, needle tips, gloves and masks are disposed of after a single use.

  • Personal protective equipment

Our team wears appropriate PPE, gloves, masks, eye protection, at every visit, changed between patients.

Have specific questions about how we keep our practice safe? We're happy to walk you through it, call us or ask any team member on your next visit.
